Self-development Morocco

How to start a business

Problem definition

Our target group is young people in Morocco who face challenges in education and employment. Many young people in Morocco have limited access to education and training, which limits their opportunities for employment and career growth. According to the World Bank, the youth unemployment rate in Morocco was 23.2% in 2020. This high rate of unemployment among young people is a significant challenge for the country’s economic growth and development.

The project

In 2020, we partnered with Association MOUBADARA Pour le développement Durable et le Tourisme, a second chance school in Morocco. Through this partnership, we provided 85 students with a second chance to study, with a focus on two fields: general mechanics and tourism. In addition to theoretical courses, we also offered professional courses to help students develop practical skills.

In April 2020, we launched our self-development program, which covers specific social needs and wants of the Moroccan youth after exploring their needs and wants. The program includes classes taught by qualified trainers who share their professional experience with the students. The classes cover a range of topics, including business development, e-commerce, and digital marketing.

In 2020, we also started a business program in cooperation with Moubadara in Zaio. The program aimed to teach young people about starting a business and entrepreneurship. After completing the program, students were given the assignment to start their fictive business. They presented their creative ideas, and a jury selected the best idea based on different criteria they had learned during the program.
In 2023, we worked on two projects. The first project was in collaboration with ENSEM Khir, where we shared knowledge from professionals from the entering university in Morocco and shared it with the youth of Moubadara. The second project was our new digital program in Morocco, which focused on e-commerce and digital marketing. Through this program, we aimed to help young people learn the basic tools for making a living.

Success Stories

In 2021, Wissal won the contest with the highest mark of all the 15 participants, followed by Basma in second place and Oussama in third place. Wissal won tools for her handmade baskets design.

In 2023, three outstanding winners, whose names we proudly announce as 1st place Salma Bouhnouf, 2nd Mohemmed el Maach and on the 3rd place Bilal Ouchen, and as an extra winner on the 4th place Souad Gria. The funds will be redirected to their online PayPal accounts, ensuring that they can immediately invest in their online businesses.

While we consider all contestants winners in our eyes, we wanted to acknowledge the creative ideas and efforts of all the digital marketing participants. Hence, we provided each of them with a token of appreciation a little amount. And a present for the teachers for their efforts. For us, it was never solely about the money but about nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and supporting their innovative ideas. We will continue to follow up with the students, ensuring they make the best use of this investment to grow and expand their businesses.

Campaign

We are committed to creating campaigns that raise awareness about the challenges that young people in Morocco face and the importance of investing in their education and training. Our campaigns aim to inspire young people to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
